Does de-fogging of double glazed vinyl windows work?

hildegard r asked:

My windows on the southside of the house show moisture in between the glass panes. I have seen ads stating:
Don’t replace de-fog. Will this work satisfacturely? How is it done?

There is moisture in between the panes because the seal is broken. They apply a vacuum and put in argon gas and when the seal brakes it sucks in moisture and makes it sweat the only way to fix it is to replace it.
