How much should I expect to pay for vinyl replacement windows?
malschen asked:
I have to replace 26 windows in a 66 year old house. These are old wood windows that have NEVER been replaced. I’m looking at a double pane, double hung, Shuco windows w/ a 25 year warranty. I recently got an estimate for $14,100 total (including windows, installation, removal of old windows, taxes, etc). In addition, they will replace my front door and install it at no additional cost. I’m in the DC area and while I have gotten other quotes from other vendors, I was wondering if this particular merchant was offering me a good deal.

Windows at Home Depot average $200-$350 (vinyl) and you can expect to pay $200 per window for install, if they have to modify the header or frame size of the opening your price will go up per window. If your average was $500 per window/ x26 windows installed your at $13,000 without tax. I think that is a pretty good deal as long as you can get a list of other customers they have done work for and they complete the work within a timely manner. Get everything on paper/ contract.
It sounds like it’s a fair price
