What is the appropriate manner to attach vinyl double pane windows to a house?

double pane windows
aharleyboy asked:

I’ve removed glass and frame from my 1973 single pane aluminum windows. It was nailed to the 2×4′s under the siding. Should I attach the new window to the siding/2×4, or make the opening in the siding larger so it attaches to the 2×4 frame only? It would be more flush outside if I went with the second option. Thanks for your help. I hope you’ve done this before…

If your opening size it’s allow to fit new window frame in ,just put frame in ,level it and screw it to 2×4 wood frame.Otherwise if is small or bigger you should make it size 1/4″ larger than window frame size then fill gaps by 1/4″ ply wood sheet and screw window frame to wood . Fill all holes and op pen places by fume spray then glaze all around of frame (Inside and out side).
