We live in an older home. Double brick construction. Bungalow about 1000 sq ft. No insulation in the walls. Heating is gas fired hot water with old style cast iron radiators. Windows are single pane leaded with storm windows on the outside. Our attic currently has some sort of blown in insulation. My wife opens the bedroom window everynight all year round. We live in Southern Ontario where winter temperatures are definitely subzero.
I suspect we could save on heating costs by keeping the window closed. My wife would rather leave the window open and reinsulate the attic…. How much impact could an open window have on our heating bill? How effective is redoing the attic insulation with an open window in the house.

I have a problem when using Yahoo! Somehow I accidentally re-sized the dividers in YMB by double clicking on a grey vertical line between the the inbox and folder column and the actual email. This made the left half of the screen unnecessarily wide, leaving the pane that shows messages not visible at all. I’ve tried countless times to resize the windows again by clicking and dragging.

How can I get the frames to go back to their original sizes where I can see everything on one page??

When I am open up a form from the database window, and then close it, and then try to use the scrollbar to look at other forms available, the scrollbar does not respond. When I make fast consecutive clicks anywhere in the database forms pane, including the scrollbar, effectively “double-clicking”, the same form pops up. Except when I click on another form to highlight it, and then double click anywhere including the scrollbar, in which case the highlighted form pops up. This happens only in the forms pane. It happens only after I’ve opened at least one form.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Specifically Yahoo! Mail Beta.
For some unknown reson I can no longer do the following:
1. Rename mail folders.
2. Resize the viewing pane. When attemptiing to do this I get a gray bar that moves with my mouse, but I can’t do anything with it!) The same happens when trying to resize the width of the folders and mail windows.
3. Can’t one-click on a folder to go to that folder, although right-clicking then clicking on the folder seems to work! Can’t imagine why!
4. Can’t close an open mail window by click on the close button, but can do so using the keyboard shortcut.
5. Can’t mark a message as unread from the pop up menu, but can using the keyboard shortcut.
6. Can’t double click on my Inbox to get the window to refresh for recently received e-mail.

These problems seemed to begin happening all at once a couple of weeks ago, with nothing else happening that would give a clue as to why it’s happening.

What can I do? Do I need to download Yahoo! Mail again for a fresh start?

To manually add a Wireless network onto your Windows Vista, please try the following:

1. Click Start - Control Panel

2. Click “View network status and tasks” (in classic view double-click Network and Sharing Center )

3. From Network and Sharing Center left pane, click “Manage wireless Networks”

4. Click Add and then “Manually create Network profile“.

5. Enter the Network name (SSID) then the security type (ex: WEP,WPA,WPA-2)

6. Select Encryption Type (ex: AES or PSK)

7. Enter the Security Key/Passphrase. Optionally check the “Display characters” to display the security key that you type in.

8. To connect automatically to this network, check the box for “Start this connection automatically”

9. The next option is the key here. Check the box for “Connect if the network is not broadcasting” to connect to a network which doesn’t broadcast, in otherwords, you don’t find this network in the available network list.

10. In the next screen, select “Change connection settings” and choose “Connect automatically when network is in range”

This should help you connect to a Wireless network which doesn’t broadcast its SSID.

I have a space heater, but it doesn’t even work, again I think all the hot air it generates escapes through the fan in the ceiling. Also the windows aren’t double paned, it’s an old house. Maybe I can find a way to replace the bug screens with panes, but I don’t want to pay too much, like i said I’m in college. I think I have to find a way to cover that square hole in the ceiling it’s like a yard by a yard squared and definitely doesn’t help me out this time of year. It’s 50 degrees and I’m not sure if i should just light a fire on top of my coffee table to stay warm..

This happened at about three minutes past two and it came with a loud swoosh from the sky. It went smack onto the ground with loud splashes as puddles filled up.
I went back into the living room after watching such a spectacular scene from nature. The living room was a very weathered looking room with tired, old chairs and an old piano, which didn’t play a single off key note although it had been there for years, vertically opposite the main door. There were six sofas in different places, which were each by themselves like double beds, and they were all worn out, but were still comfortable even of its ancient age. The curtains were made of lace, blowing with the wind like a white ghost, and there was a box like television set. The only new ornament in the room was the newly purchased speaker. This room’s furniture, as one can tell, was all mismatched, since some of the things in there were each made of different materials. This room has always been this way ever since I can remember and have only had slight changes.
It had been recently vacated by my grandfather and was now occupied by my grandmother, sitting comfortably on a two-seater sofa, watching some drama on the television. She had something in both her hands but I was too engaged in my thoughts to bother wondering what it was.
I then entered the shining and sparkling kitchen to look for something to chew on. I found a packet of biscuits in a box. I brought two packets back to the living room, just in case my grandmother wanted some. As I entered, the commercial was on and I walked over towards where my grandmother sat and offered her the packet of biscuits and she quietly declined. During this, I saw that she was knitting something. I sat on another sofa, opposite where my grandmother sat, beside the window.
As I sat, munching on the salty piece of biscuit, I gave a glance towards my grandmother. She had on a flowery pink dress that really did attract butterflies, which was almost ankle length. I then noticed that through all those past few years, she had grown old and withered while I grew and flourished. It had been a gradual change on her since she was now thinner than before, when I was still seven years old, but she has never changed her short hair style and has maintained it, dying it back to black once in awhile. When the show started, I immediately looked out the window, for the show was too emotional for my liking.
The rain was still pouring hard but the size and speed of the droplets were reducing, making small pitter-patter noises on the window panes. The splashes were less audible and the puddles have grown larger in size, almost into the size of lakes.
I looked back onto the living room and noticed my grandmother placing a box into the piano seat in which she placed her knitting in. By, now the rain has ceased to a definite stop. Slowly, she walked over to the door and I opened it for her, with a squeak of the rusty old hinges. I accompanied her out since there wouldn’t be water splashing about anymore.
My grandmother avoided the puddles of water and so did I. She went and sat under the shady tree, on a bench, while I sat on a lawn chair. The smell of grass was fresh, as well as soggy and the rain droplets on the leaves glistened like a million diamonds. The birds started chirping and cooing at one another, making a very musical melody. People started to emerge from their houses and the street was filled with motorcycles again.
It was a nice feeling just to be alone with my grandmother, even if there wasn’t much talking between us but it gave us a stronger bond.
